- A Special Note -
Greenville English Dance Community e-Mail List!

As many may know, the entire address book for e-mail announcements was recently wiped out and only about a third of the list has been reconstructed from old e-mails. Dancers all, please e-mail Margaret Talbot with your most recent contact information and a request to be put back on our distribution list for upcoming events.

Even if you were previously on our list we request your names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and mailing addresses once more. Please include the names of all your family members who come dancing.

And please ask all your dancing friends to do the same!

In this fashion we can update everything, send anouncements of regular and special events and send special invitations encouraging new dancers to join us.

Thanks so much for your patience and help - and save this link, just in case!

• Beginners are welcome! You don't need to bring a partner but since this tradition involves a partner why not invite a friend or family member?

• English Country Dance evenings include teaching of the dances. From gentle to quite vigorous, the dances are "presented" or walked through and then gently prompted or "called" as the music is introduced. Sometimes we venture into some Contra Dancing, set dancing and International Dancing too.

• Our dance teacher is Frederick Park, an internationally known teacher & caller skilled in a wide variety of dance forms.

• Wear comfortable shoes, bring an extra pair if you can.
The "best" are leather soles!

• Clothing should be comfortable and cool - yes, even in the Winter.

• Light refreshments are to be expected
(we take turns providing light something-or-other).

We also plan to develop a group of demonstration dancers.
If you are interested, please contact Margaret, as indicated below.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or comments, please
e-mail Margaret or call 864 607-3642

It is a delight to see the growth and development of our rich heritage of traditional English Country Dance here in South Carolina. We're also very grateful for the support and assistance of Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church in hosting these dances. The delight of working and dancing alongside the many people who contribute their efforts to making all these events such a pleasant experience is a warm encouragement. Many thanks to our world-class teacher, Frederick Park. We are much blessed by the creative talents of our teachers, musicians and other helpers who encourage new dancers, provide refreshments, help with set up and clean up, give other support and encouragement, etc. All this coheres to form the many integral parts of what makes being part of our dance community a pleasure and a privilege.

Thank you all so very much.

Margaret Talbot
